GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION:
Jericoacoara was considered one of the ten most exuberant beaches of the planet, so let's not worry about that and focus mainly on what nature has created over many years for the pleasure. There is no doubt about the variety of beautiful places in Jeri, so it’s not by chance that buggy trips are the most popular amoung the tourists. Natural lakes between huge dunes, unexplored beaches and natural rock sculptured in 'Serrote’ surround this magic place. Don’t forget: Jericoacoara is located within a National Park, where ecology is highly valued the residents.
The word Jericoacoara comes from Tupi (an indigenous language) and means "house of turtles." It is located in Ceara, a state renowned for its natural beauty, wildlife and different landscapes. Jericoacoara has favorable conditions for windsurfing and sand-boarding.
Over the years, the village has adapted itself to the expectations of its visitors, the tourism structure is one of the most important of the State of Ceara. Another important aspect of Jericoacoara is sport. Schools of windsurfing, kitesurfing, capoeira (a cultural pass-time that includes fighting, dancing, popular cultural pursuits and music developed by African slaves in Brazil) and sand-boarding, are some of the most important attractions of the region. Windsurfing and kitesurfing competitions are periodically held in Jeri by the best organizations in Brazil and in the world.

Jeriba (located nearby the windsurfing club "Club Ventos")
You don't need a car in Jericoacoara. You can organise a trip (windsurfing on Lake Tatajuba, Prea, sand dunes, ...) directly with the windsurfing club "Club Ventos" or directly with the reception of the hotel
Comments: We booked with the travel agency sun+fun / Happy Surf (www.surfreisen.com) reserving the flight, accommodation and windsurfing equipment. Everything was well organised. We got a very interesting price for the hire of the windsurfing equipment (Sfr. 465.- for 2 weeks).
At the Club Ventos, you can't reserve a particular board. You can only make a reservation for a category of boards (small 69 to 90 litres, medium 91 to 110 litres or large 111 litres and more).
Club Ventos is very well organised and everyone gets a private locker with a key. Buffet lunch and happy hour at sunset... You can pay your whole bill with a credit card at the end of your holiday
Restaurants, bars and cafes are located in the village centre and in the nearby hotels. Our favourite was the "na casa dela" on the "main" street, but every restaurant was very good.
Friendly aperos: Have a cocktail on the beach and go for a walk... and you will see demonstrations of Capoera!
