The island of Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands at 727.2 square miles (1883.5 km2) and is the United States' 17th largest island. Maui is part of the state of Hawaii and is the largest of Maui County's four islands, bigger than Lāna'i, Kaho'olawe, and Moloka'i. In 2000, Maui had a population of 117,644, third-most populous of the Hawaiian islands, behind that of O'ahu and Hawai'i. Kahului is the largest town on the island with a population of 20,146. Wailuku is the seat of Maui County. Other significant towns include Kīhei, Lahaina, Makawao, Pā'ia, Kula, Ha'ikū, Hāna, Kā'anapali, and Kapalua.
This island is a paradise for surfers and windsurfers.

Convenient when the outside temperature is -20°C!!!

KIHEI: Located on the west coast, Kihei is the best place to be to look at the beautiful sunset ... and on this part of the island, it never rains! PAIA: Located on the north shore. It is a surfers' village. Paia is located in between Hookipa Beach Park and Spreckelsville. You should expect to get rain on this part of the island. HAIKU:Located on the north shore, to the east of Hookipa. You will find the cheapest accommodation, but you should expect to get some heavy rain!

Restaurants, bars and cafes are all located in the centre of Kihei close to the ocean. Very good, cheap food in the Thailand Cuisine located in the Kukui Mall Shopping Centre. More expensive, but with a magnificent view on the ocean from the terrace of the SARENTOS on the Beach (www.tristarrestaurants.com).
Theatre: Located closed to the Starbucks cafe. GOOD TO KNOW: On Saturday evening, everyone comes with their children. And so it is not very quiet!
Fastfood: Panda express (simply excellent and very cheap. The "Orange flavoured chicken" was our favourite)

Restaurants, bars and cafes are all located in the centre of Lahaina close to the ocean. Very good food in Kimo's (beautiful ocean view) and in Hard Rock Cafe
